ARTIST STATEMENT
I create work that is inherently playful and not to be taken too seriously. Abstraction allows me to play with colour, shape, and line. My paintings are a compilation of concepts that I develop through digital illustration. I use a projector to transfer the digital compositions onto canvas. I colour in these large drawings, experimenting with acrylic paint, pencil crayons, pastels, and oils to create various textures, resulting in colourful, abstract paintings.
There are endless possibilities, and I rely on instinct to determine what stays and what goes, always aiming to keep only the best parts. I must foster an internal environment where trust is paramount for this to occur. Regular walks in nature and writing are essential for connecting with myself and my emerging ideas. For me, this process is more important than the outcome of the work.
